We are headed to camp this month. I am very excited knowing that we are on the cusp of week that ripe and tender young hearts attend each year, finding themselves vulnerable to the Spirit of the Lord. Summer camp is also a real conundrum for me. It's that week where you basically do about a years worth of youth ministry and move on to spend the next twelve months unpacking all the work God did in the lives of the attending students. It*s a week of real mixed emotions. You get to see some students go deeper with God. You get to see some students meet God for the first time. These are the exciting parts. There are also hard parts, however. You watch some students reject God again, even though His presence is so thick that you could almost cut it with a knife. You see other students re-re-re-re-re-commit to God knowing that this is another loop through the cycle, but praying that it won't be, and you see some students show up, but never really show up, staying disengaged all week. Nevertheless, I am really looking forward to July 5-9 because no matter what decisions kids do or don't make I know that this is a week where we will have the opportunity to take our relationships much deeper, which will bless my heart greatly.
So I ask that you, Old First, lift up the next generation in prayer. Lift them up and petition the grace and mercy of our Lord that He might begin irrevocable works in each of their lives this year, works that He will see through to their completion, not flashes in the pan or slow burn outs, but real, living, burning works that will change the lives of the students here forever. I believe He wants to do that and I believe He can. Do you? Will you pray for that? We thank you and welcome for your love and support.
n Christ,
Nick
